Plumbing
- Check for any visible leaks in your plumbing system, get it fixed sooner than later to help you save water and money. It is an easy fix for us, and it is best to do it before it becomes a bigger issue.
- Cleaning the roof gutter and keeping your drainage areas from leaves and debris will save you from a big headache particularly after a season of summer storms.
- Disconnect and drain garden hoses.
- Turn off outdoor taps and install hose bibs if possible.
- Flush the hot water system to remove sediment build-up.
- Check for leaks around the base of the hot water system, especially if your hot water unit is 10 or more years old. No one wants to have a cold shower in the morning during the chilly season.

- Schedule a professional inspection of your furnace to ensure it’s in good working order.
- Inspect windows and doors for drafts and seal any leaks, cracks or gaps with weatherstripping. A small draft -which is easy to fix- can increase your electricity bill up to 10%.
- Consider upgrading to a programmable thermostat for energy efficiency.
- Clear debris, leaves, and vegetation away from the outdoor HVAC unit.
- Check for any visible damage to the unit.
